Mixed Media Weaving Card

Good Morning :)
What a change in the weather! The week started hot and sunny and now ends soggy! Not surprised with Glastonbury on this weekend and a huge concert on the beach here too!
I have a card to share today :) Made for the Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge all the details, entry and gorgeous DT inspiration can be found HERE. We have a fab prize from Sassy Studio Design up for grabs!

I have put a step by step tutorial for this card HERE.

My card this week is a mixed media card using paper weaving.

The finished card has a lot of lovely texture.

I used some pattern paper to create a woven background and used, stamping, modelling paste and Dylusions Inks.

I have been playing with some new paints I got, I ordered them to see what they would be like for the Mixed Media kits I am working on. They are fabulous! Viva Decor make a range of gorgeous paints and I have to say I am smitten lol!

The large chipboard cog was coloured with Viva Decor Maya Gold and the smaller black cogs were coloured with Viva Decor Inka Gold both in silver.

Please do check out the Challenge HERE and hop over HERE for the card tutorial.
Have a wonderful weekend

Inky Fingers Layout

Good morning :)
Last day of term for my boys today!
And the last day of Primary school for my eldest, he moves on to secondary school in September.
My youngest finishes Key stage one today & moves into Key stage two in September.
They grow up so fast!
I have a lot of plans for the summer catching up with projects both craft and home ones. I'll squeeze in a few gymnastic and craft classes and maybe an odd day out with the family too lol!

We have a new challenge this morning on the C4E recipe challenge blog.

INKY FINGERS!

We would like you to share projects that use any kind of paint or ink.
This has to be one of my favourite mediums to work with and I have been painting and inking a lot recently!

My project this week is an un-named layout I did for a C4E workshop recently.
I have used Dylusions Ink sprays and stamped with Stazon ink over a Gesso background of cardstock shaped.
The cardstock shapes gave the background lots of depth and interest.

The little girl in the photo is my niece at my wedding nearly 6 years ago, so she's grown a lot since then lol!
I have a second layout to complete to make this a double spread of my two nieces who were flower girls.

I didn't use much paper or embellishments for the layout. There are some inked flowers, painted chipboard flourish, crepe bandage, tracing paper, 1 piece of DP, wood veneer leaves and some flat back gems.

I love Dylusions ink sprays! You can have the really bright colours or tone them down to make pastel shades. I did a quick video tutorial for making the pastel shades with Dylusions very bright colours you can see it HERE.

Right best get on with preparations for this weekends workshops, we are bookbinding and making flowers this month! If you would like to join us contact me at crafts4eternity@aol.co.uk.

All that remains is to invite you to join us HERE for this weeks challenge.
Have a great day thanks for stopping by

Together

Together is the layout we did at the January crafts 4 eternity crop!

and here's how!!
You will need:
K&co Verbena papers purple swirl and golden flower & ornaments. Get them HERE
bazzill cardstock white, lavender & palm. get them here Palm white lavender
glossy accents, brads, ink pads, chipboard swirl, AC Thickers, border punch, photo 13.5cm x 17.5cm. Usual tools and adhesives.

1. Measure and cut a 9"x9" piece of the purple swirls paper. Cut 2 strips of Palm CS 1.5"x9", punch a border along one long edge. (I've used Martha Stewart doily punch). Attach the strips to two opposite sides (top & bottom). Attach to the white CS slightly off centre towards the right.

2. Mat your photo on the lavender CS. Cut a strip of Palm CS to fit down the right hand edge (4cm x 13.5cm). Punch with the same border punch and attach to the LO slightly off centre to the right.

3. Take the golden flower & ornaments PP and cut out sections of the pattern. Start with a large piece for the base of the embellishment. When you have a selection of pieces arrange them on your LO until you are happy. Attach using sticky fixers.

Attach brads and additional layers as you go. The trick is to keep adding pieces until you are happy. You can also add ribbon, curled paper, wire etc.

Add glossy accent dots for extra dimension.

Add a second flower on top of another to make them 'pop'. Slightly offset it and use sticky fixers to lift it up.
pinch the tips of petals and add extra flat back gems.

Using a sponge add distress inks onto the chipboard swirl to colour it. you could finish it off with glitter or glossy accents.

4. To complete the LO add your title I have used lavender glitter chipboard AC Thickers.

This technique will work with lots of similar style papers. It will also work with chipboard elements and die cut elements.

You can download a PDF version of this project from the crafts 4 eternity craft room HERE
