C4E Recipe Challenge ~ Mixed Media Birdhouse

Good Morning :)
This week we have an ANYTHING GOES challenge at the C4E Recipe Challenge blog.
The challenge this week is kindly sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads and there is Gorgeous DT inspiration too!
You can find all the challenge details, entry and fabulous DT inspiration HERE.

My project this week is a Recycled Birdhouse.
The Birdhouse was last weeks C4E's crop workshop and lots of fun to make :)
The main structure of the box was made with recycled corrugated boxes. I used a template to cut out the four sides then constructed it using side hinges.
The box was then given a coat of Deco Art's Crackle Paste, followed by a wash of acrylic paint.

The Crackle Paste dries to form really defined cracks and is gorgeous!

I made the roof using 45 individual tiles! Each one was individually distress and added to the roof base.

I decorated the roof with a flower cluster to finish it off.

I kept the decoration of the Birdhouse quite simple adding another flower cluster with a Tim Holtz number plaque.
The finished Birdhouse is about 7" high!
There were so many options for this Birdhouse adding more decoration, a birds nest inside and so much more!
The girls at the workshop had lots of fun making their Birdhouses and each one was different.

Have you made a Birdhouse? Share your links in the comments below I'd love to see them :)
Thanks for stopping by
Have a great weekend!

Teacher gifts & cards

Good morning!
You may need some sunglasses for this post lol! These sweetie gifts really were very bright!
I had a few teacher gifts and cards to make for the end of term and although I had made one card I left it far too late to do lots of different cards so one design repeated several times was the simplest solution.

For the sweetie boxes I made a simple open box and filled it with Lemon sherbets and Chocolate lime sweets. I then wrapped some bright yellow and green net around the box.
For the tags I designed a set of round tags and papers. These were punched and die cut the pieces then attacked them with Stickles lol!

For the cards I used some gorgeous Crate Paper DP.
I kept to a simple design using different shapes and layers and again lots of Stickles!

Have a great day!

C4E Recipe #15 - Embellishment Recipe

Good Morning :)
It's been a strange week here, DH started a new job on Monday which was great! Sadly it meant he had to stay away from home all week :( He will be home tonight YAY! :D I'm looking forward to my hug :)
This week over on the Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge blog we have an embellishment recipe for you.
As always the DT Gallery is gorgeous.....and we have a fab prize up for grabs! Hop over to the C4E Blog to enter.
I'll warn you now there are lots of pics in this post! lol! You may want to grab a cuppa and let the dog out ;)

This was made for my mum for Mothers Day. In my haste to get this finished I forgot one of the challenge requirements! Whoops sorry :( I had intended to add the charm but totally forgot.

I saw a lot of twisted easel cards entered for R#8 (February) and had to have a go!
I have added the easel card on to a drawer box.

I have used beautiful papers from the Sweet Owl pad again. Wild orchid flowers and Tim Holtz Bird cage die cut painted with Adirondack Paint dabbers.

The little owl is one of my Digital stamp sets (Owls) coloured with Copics. One of my browns ran out whilst colouring this in :( Will have to get a refill. I have added Stickles to finish off the image.

Here's the doily!

Inside the drawer I added a quote sticker from my stash, a wild orchid flower and a little feather.

To complete the gift I found a mini chipboard photo frame in my stash which I painted and added DP's to. This was still drying when I gave it to mum lol! The photo is my mum and her mum.
There did you make it to the end? I should let the dog back in now and hop over to the C4E blog before he needs to go out again lol!
I am cropping this weekend YAY! I have a fun Button workshop prepared (almost!) and gorgeous goodies to scrap with :) Hopefully the sun will shine so we can lunch in the carpark....yes we really do that lol!
Have a great weekend!

C4e R#50 - Peek-a- Boo!!

Hello everyone :)
It's Friday and time for a new recipe on the C4E challenge blog This week we are asking you to use the sketch and add an aperture.
The DT Girls have some beautiful examples again for you in the DT gallery and the prize this week is a choice of 3 Digital stamps from the C4E Store
I started my project last weekend but didn't get chance to finish it until last night :(

I'm not sure what to call this lol! It's a card on top of 4 little matchbox drawers!
The aperture is above the little hedgehog image cut with spellbinders nestabilities. The ribbon came off my birthday cake this week lol!
Here's a look inside...
and the cute little hedgehog...
Sadly you can't see the gorgeous shimmer from the glimmer mist. My wonderful UKS teammies sent me a bottle of Tattered Angels glimmer mist along with 2 Tim Holtz dies!! Thanks girls I love them :)
This was the first time I've used the glimmer mist and it got everywhere lol! I love it!!! :)
I'll leave you with the recipe, thanks for stopping by :)

Beauty

Hello!
Phew it's hot! Lovely :)
While I wait for Mikael's friend to arrive I thought I'd quickly share the June crop class project.
I have seen a few of these about, the Maya Road DT ones are stunning! I had to have a go!
The banner uses gorgeous MME Quite Contrary DP Yum!
Each piece is about 3 x 3.5" so the total length is about 18".

I've made the rosettes again! eek! We got in a muddle with these at Christmas I love them but some of the girls have sworn never to make them again! I didn't have any red glitter thickers so I grabbed some chip alphas from my stash and covered them in copious amounts of fine glitter. Oh what fun that was! It was everywhere except where it was supposed to be! lol!

I used a mix of nesties and punches for the circles and a cropodile to punch the little holes. Again, lacking the correct embellishment for this piece I grabbed a chipboard shape, some chipboard scrap, glitter and the dreaded glue to make my own.
I couldn't not add some flowers! I have used my favourite homemade stencil, must see if there is a punch :) Finished with a K&co wild Saffron chip flower.
Lovely candy cane stickles to finish.
My banner took a couple of days to complete with all the glitter needing to dry but the girls at the crop made a good start on theirs, hopefully they will bring the finished banners to the July crop.
Thanks for stopping by enjoy the sunshine :)

daddy love

This is the first of 3 LO's I have to share. Daddy love was made for a UKS weekly challenge and for the C4E July crop kit, which has sold out!!!
The PP is from the C4E July kit available HERE The 2 papers used are the blue swirl and wild garden from K&co's wild saffron collection. The CS is Bazzill cheddar and lakeshore. I love the colour of lakeshore. There is a lot to see on this LO and it didn't take as long as it looks! Especially for a slow scrapper like me! I must be speeding up though to get so many done in a short time, do need to get quicker there is just so much to scrap and so many gorgeous products to play with!! lol!!
The photo is of my sister and dad, the only thing I know about the photo is that it was taken by my mum, who was a keen photographer when we were kids, now she is getting the scrapping bug!! lol

For the title I used the MME rub-ons from the july kit. Cut them out to make little alpha tiles matt onto some cs, inked and added to the lo with sticky fixers.

Part of the challenge requirements was to use pearls I used a selection of pearl effect beads and pearl paint to add detail to the PP. The flowers were stamped onto PP and cs using the stamp from the july kit and the one in the crop kit. The large flower has several layers to it which makes it perfect for creating dimensional flowers like this.

The main techniques focused on were the flowers and the tearing/distressing. The PP was layered and gutted to create this vintage feel. the edges were torn, rolled and inked. The butterfly was another autumn leaves stamp (a few will be available in the store shortly) My nan was at the crop with us and kept telling us off for cutting off the antenna!! lol It wasn't until I made the 3rd LO that I found some flower stems my mum had given me that are perfect for the antenna! If I remember I'll go back and add them in!

There were a ton of flowers made for this lo I used a mix of sizes, PP and cs to put them together. I layered them using PVA and added beads and pearl paint to the centres. The butterflies were treated to a little inking and pearl paint. The leaves were made with the MS punch fond branch, I now have a little pot full of these cute leaves! The flowers, leaves and butterflies were added in a collage style and gives the lo lots of depth, texture and interest.
I loved doing this LO, I have had it in mind since the kit was chosen in june! I loved the technique and you will be seeing more of this style from me! lol
The Project instructions for this LO is in the C4E library, you can download it from HERE
Thank-you for stopping by I hope that this lo has given you some inspiration, and want to try out the technique let me know if you do and share your lo's in the c4e gallery.
Take care

C4E and Cute card Thursday

You ever have one of "those" weekends? It has taken 2 days to get 2 cards right? What is going on there? I struggled to get them right and nearly thew them out the window!!! But they are drying now (glitter glue!) and I will post them hopefully tomorrow. I am still not 100% happy with them but time is short and there are lots more to make and the dreaded ironing is waiting for me tonight, maybe a break will do the trick?
So what have I got for you today? The C4E this week is SNOWMEN!! I just love all the cute characters about at Christmas, snowmen, penguins, father Christmas, polar bears. Hat off the the talented designers who draw them, so very cute!
I have finally finished my Christmas planning file!! My poor little note book was looking a bit tired so I found an old recipe file in the kitchen and covered it with some paper and a cute snowman. The papers are from a DCWV value pack form about 2yrs ago, I didn't really like most of the papers and was disappointed with them, but these papers worked just fine! I made some dividers (a little too small, but don't tell anyone...lol!!) and there you go a folder to use every year.

This card was done for this week Kim Fee's (simply Fairies) challenge last week. It has doubled up for the C4E Snowman challenge too! The snowman is one I drew for a stamp design about 3 years ago.

Cute Card Thursday's Challenge this week is RED & GREEN. This is the first time I have tried this challenge. You can find the challenge HERE
This card has also doubled up for the C4E challenge ....and.... I used the sketch from Friday sketchers too! So a triple challenge card!!

Oh dear the ironing is waiting so I had best be off!!!
Have fun
Thanks for stopping by!
