Pastel Shades Mixed Media Cards

Good Morning :)

I am back today to share my DT cards for this weeks C4E Recipe Challenge, all the details, entry and inspiration can be found HERE.
This week we would like you to share projects which use Pastel Shades, we have a fab prize up for grabs kindly donated by Stamping All Day. As always there is gorgeous inspiration from the super talented design team, worth a look if nothing else!

I made two cards this week both for Mother's Day.

I used the same technique for creating the background on both cards, the difference between them is in the embellishment clusters and the stencil used for the modelling paste.

For the background I stamped with a script stamp on to watercolour paper then

added Distress inks to a chicken wire stencil and used it like a stamp over the top.

I then added modelling paste through the same stencil for this card and the opposite version of the chicken wire stencil for the second card.

I love how you can still see the background through the modelling paste, so pretty!

I used an old chipboard piece from Crate Paper with some thread, net, flowers and a clay heart I made at this months C4E Crop workshop.

The card was finished with some splatters of silver and white paint.

The second card was made in the same way only I used a different stencil for the modelling paste and slightly different embellishment cluster.

Unfortunately I decided to add the stamped stitched border after adding the embellishments which was hard work! Note to self add stamped border before embellishments lol!

So there you have it two cards for Mother's Day using pastel shades :)

Smile Mixed Media Layout for Crafts 4 Eternity

Good Morning :)

Happy Friday!
As it's Friday we have a new challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity.
This week we would like you to share projects with a MUM or FEMALE theme.

The layout uses the February/March C4E page kit Smile. In the kit are gorgeous Teresa Collins papers, a doily, Prima resin Butterfly and small piece of net. There is a project sheet in the kit to complete the layout too!

The photo is of my lovely mum and her parents taken in their garden in Solihull.

The background was painted with acrylic paint and splattered with Distress ink.

The gorgeous Prima resin butterfly was given a light brush of Silver Inka Gold before adding on top of a small piece of net.

The alphas are My Minds Eye Necessities (Metallic)

Sadly the photos do not show the gorgeous glitter on the paper :(

Unique Layout

Good Morning :)

It's been another busy week here, birthdays, family visits, outings, work all the usual goings on in the Thomas house :) I've also been busy getting ready for this weekends Crafts 4 Eternity Crop and Workshops! Ok so I wasn't very inventive this week and just made a layout using up some left over papers from C4E's February page kit. The kit sold out but there are a few other kits available HERE.

The lovely young man in the photo is my nephew Lawson, he looks quite deep in thought but I imagine he was bored really lol!

The background was created using acrylic paint and Inca gold cream rubbed through a bubble stencil.

The die cut speech bubbles were painted with acrylic paint and edged with Inca Gold. 

I am really loving My Minds Eye's Essentials Alphas at the moment. Along with the fabulous alphas there are some lovely words and quotes.

The tag is a Inkssentials manila tag coloured with Inca Gold.

For a little extra sparkle I finished off with a few gold sequins.

The Flair button is from My Minds Eye Jubilee collection as is the gorgeous papers, who says you can't have a few flowers on a male layout!! lol!

Emboss it! Mixed Media card

Good morning :)

The sun is shinning this morning and we have a new challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity :)

I have to admit I don't seem to get on with my heat tools! I have two and I always worry I'm going to overheat the piece and start a fire lol! But for my card this week I dug out the embossing powders and had a go :) 

I love the effect of heat embossing but I am a real wimp over the process lol!

I have added gold embossing powder over a text stamp and some rough gold edging to my card.

I then painted over with Distress ink.

The flower cluster has some watch parts tucked in to it along with die cut leaves, cotton thread, cheesecloth and Prima trim.

Bokeh Card

Good Morning :)

We have been on half term here this week and I spent 3 days clearing up my craft room! Still not 100% done but much better than it was and I have a large pile of unfinished works in progress ;)

My card uses a fabulous technique called BOKEH. It's a photography term which describes the effect you get when areas of the photo are out of focus. You see it a lot when you take photos of lights. 

I used Distress reinkers and a white ink pad to create the Bokeh effect on watercolour paper.

The large sentiment in the centre has been heat embossed with matt black embossing powder.

To finish I added a few sequins.

The technique seems to work best with darker colours, I tried a pale pink one which was pretty but the Bokeh effect was not clear.

My card this week is a mixed media card which I will be teaching at Sunday's C4E crop.

I have used Teresa Collins Documented DP with Teal ink, paper flowers and stamped butterflies.

The card has lots of dimension so not a good one for posting lol!

I added some Modelling Paste through a Chicken wire stencil on to the background.
